Hello!
The idea to write a book came to me in 2018. Yes, years ago! But the truth is that writing a book can be daunting, not to mention, scary.
My life motto has always been "I'd rather regret doing something, than regret never doing it at all." and that is how I moved to the U.S. when I was 24, started painting at 41, and now wrote a book at 55. Once I set a goal, no matter how overwhelming or intimidating, I do whatever I can to accomplish it. It may take a few months, or years! (in this case, 6 to be exact).
The purpose of my book is to encourage other stay at home moms like me, to have the courage to follow their heart. I want you to know that you have the right to live your creative dream. That it is ok to want more out of life beyond being a mom and a wife. I am giving you permission to give yourself permission to go after your creative desires and my book will show you how.
The thought of writing a book came from my desire to share everything I had learned and gone through as I embarked on the path of becoming a professional artist while being a stay-at-home mom. From my fears of not being good enough, to learning how to market my work, it turned out to be a wild ride but very rewarding and enlightening. I learned so much about myself and grew not only as a person, but as a mother and a wife.
When I decided to write the book, I had to face the same fears I faced when I decided to make art my career. So I guess, it was a good reminder of the mental and emotional obstacles I encountered then. I asked myself "who am I to write a book?" just like I asked myself "who am I to be an artist?" back when I was 41.
You would think that being a stay at home mom of a tween-soon-to-be-teenager would have made it easier to start writing a book but let me tell you, it comes with a different set of interesting challenges. I would put my big project to the side and get to it when I had the time (or the courage).
Then, in March of last year, I finally took my own advise and committed myself to finishing the book. I then had to find a good editor and proofreader, which I did, thank God, and from that point utilized my engineering and artistic abilities to format the book and create the design for the book cover.
And now, I am so happy and proud of the final result. I left not stone unturned. I poured everything I have learned and experienced throughout my art journey into this book so you can start your own journey without the mistakes and obstacles I encountered myself.
The purpose of my book is to encourage other stay at home moms like me, to have the courage to follow their heart. I want you to know that you have the right to live your creative dream.
